While it might not seem like it with your Monday coffee, the close of the week manages to sneak up on you. For options traders, Friday expiration is a critical juncture. If you’re holding positions that are expiring, now is the time to rebalance, roll, or close your position.
Missing expiration can have a major impact. It could cause you to sell shares you were holding and incur tax consequences, or buy shares you don’t have the capital for. And not only do you miss the position expiring that day, you also forgo a full weekend of additional exposure from failing to open up the next position.
When I started trading options strategies for my own account, I quickly realized the pain of implementation. While I’m *usually* around at 4pm on a Friday; meetings, beers, and vacations happen. Missing out on opportunities hurt.
There is a better way to manage options strategies, and that’s what we’re here to do. Whether you have a very specific trade program, or are simply looking to diversify your portfolio with alternative investment strategies, we make it simple.
Automation and options go hand in hand. While FiftyFifty gives a quick snapshot of the intuitive power of options; Strategy Execution as a Service is our forte. Today the Beta Group will have access to subscribe to longer term investment strategies. We know you're busy, and don't have the time to manage regular tweaks.
There are several new strategies on our website. The Rolling Bull (Bear) is highlighted in more detail below. Or consider taking a look a Market Neutral Returns and Downside Capture to achieve diversification in your portfolio.
Today, I’ll certainly be at my desk. I’ll be watching automated strategy implementation happen. This is what we built Harvested Financial for, and the machines are starting to hum.
Thanks for joining us,

What clients are asking us:
What if I don’t have any options experience?
That’s what we’re here for! We love talking about options, all day every day. We’re working to build up more resources on our website, to help you understand the different opportunities. We're also planning a webinar series for later in September, stay tuned! If you have specific questions, or a strategy that you just don’t quite understand, please feel free to reach out anytime to mark@harvestedfinancial.com.
Why would I use Rolling Bull instead of buying stock?
The Rolling Bull is designed to keep you geared towards the upside, with a minimum capital footprint. Buying stock requires a lot of cash outlay. Whether you don’t want to adjust your basis, or are simply looking for a targeted play, the Rolling Bull is designed to maximize your edge.
Did I miss a blog last week?
You got me, there was no blog last week. I’m sorry. This week however, I talk about Systematic Endurance, and why that is a core part of Harvested Financials strategy design philosophy.
Happy Friday!
Starting a company during a global pandemic means we're all working from home. From Berkeley CA, Raleigh NC or at HQ in Chicago IL, Harvested Financial's "offices" stretch across three time zones. Some of us haven't even met in person!
For Mark, working at home means he gets to have his "office dog" with him when she's not outside patrolling the neighborhood.
Poppy was a rescue dog from WaggyTail Rescue almost five years ago. They brought her from an all-kill shelter in California to a temporary foster home in Brooklyn with only a few days to spare. Mark and his wife Desirée adopted her shortly after. When Poppy first met her new family, they knew it was a match. In the first twenty-four hours they called the rescue three times to make sure they could adopt her. She's since settled into her yard in Chicago, and enjoys not going for walks. She loves to travel, and her favorite beaches are in Aquinnah MA.
Around the Harvested Financial offices, she's been known to hop into Zoom meetings, woof on conference calls, and generally make sure everyone knows that she's on duty. Poppy has even been there for user acceptance testing as we work through the beta group.
